Watching together

Kitomo is made to be watched with an adult nearby.

An episode lasts six minutes. It starts at home and ends at home.

The ball rolls along a beechwood rail towards the mouth of a lilac felt tunnel, on its way to the third corner.

Before

  • Look at the episode guide together: how long it lasts, what happens and what you will hear.
  • Choose a good moment in the day: after bath time, before a story or on an afternoon at home.
  • Sit close to the screen, with the volume as you like it. The volume is the same in every episode.

During

  • At the start, someone blows off screen. You can blow at the same time.
  • On the abacus steps, count the beads: three, two, one.
  • Before something happens, ask: “What will happen?” Afterwards: “Did you guess right?”
  • Listen: “What was that? Wood, felt, brass or string?”
  • On the merry‑go‑round, the ball looks back on its day: “Do you remember what it saw?”
  • Say little and leave time. Looking is playing too.

After

  • At the end, the ball falls asleep. You can say good night to it.
  • The episode closes by itself: the music box stops and three seconds of silence follow. It is a good moment to close the screen and carry on with the day.
  • Carry the game on at home:
    • roll something big across the table and across a towel, and listen to the difference;
    • count three big things and three small things;
    • blow on a paper pinwheel and watch it turn.

One episode is a complete moment

Every episode has a beginning, a journey and an end. One is enough for a shared moment.

Every child, in their own way

Every child watches in their own way. Each episode guide says what you will hear and at what minute. With it you can choose the episode, turn the volume down or skip ahead to a moment.

For the whole family

Kitomo is understood through the eyes and the ears. Brothers and sisters of different ages, grandparents and grandchildren can watch it together, in any language.

It is designed for neurodivergent and neurotypical children to enjoy together. The structure is always the same, there is one focus on screen and every episode gives a hint before something happens.

The workshop's colours are also measured for children with colour blindness: the ball stands out from every wall by colour and by brightness, in typical vision and in the two most common kinds of red‑green colour blindness.
